This month’s IUP Magazine Web Exclusive is the story of alumnus Scott McGuire, who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) eleven years ago.
As an undergraduate student at IUP, Scott enjoyed an active life that included sports, mountain biking, fishing, and hiking. He also joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity, a brotherhood that made an impression on his life far beyond his expectations.
Although Scott and his fraternity brothers had remained close after graduation, when they learned that Scott had ALS, the TKE brothers banded together to help him and his family. Scott's positive attitude and motivation continue to inspire them all.
