Karen Stein, an assistant professor of speech-language pathology and the director of the Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, will finish her term on the National Council of State Boards (NCSB) of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Stein was elected to the National Council of State Boards in 2005. She was then elected as president-elect in 2007 and, in that role, served as chair of the 2007 NCSB annual conference. She served as president in 2008. In her role this year as past president, she served as chair of the Elections committee and chair of the Honors committee.

She also played an active role in the planning of the annual NCSB conference, which took place in September 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Among the topics addressed at the conference was how telepractice has changed the healthcare landscape and how states have accomplished the development of telepractice guidelines in the practice act and/or rules and regulations of their licensure law.
