On Monday, October 12, 2009, the Future Educators of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students (FEDHHS) club participated in their first annual Make A Difference Day Language and Literacy activity. FEDHHS invited the Mortar Board and the IUP chapter of the National Student Speech-Hearing-Language Association to help create a traveling loaner library of Language and Literacy bags.
Thirty-five students came to volunteer and created thirty-seven beautiful bags, decorated with a variety of reading themes on the outside, then filled them with books and language and literacy activities for parents. The students had a great time, and the bags will be contributed to the DePaul School for Hearing and Speech. DePaul is a school for deaf children in Pittsburgh.
