The College of Education and Educational Technology is proud to announce that sophomore Suzannah Victoria Cannon from Pittsburgh, a major in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Services, has been selected to receive one of only six prestigious Frank Bolden Scholarships awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to early childhood education and to children with special needs.

The scholarship honors Frank Bolden, the legendary editor and reporter for the Pittsburgh Courier newspaper and one of the first black accredited news correspondents during WW II. The scholarship will be presented by Mrs. Nancy Bolden on October 20, 2009, at a ceremony hosted by the dean of the college. The documentary “Frank Bolden: The Man Behind the Words” will be broadcast on IUP-TV at 5:00 p.m. daily the week of October 19–23, 2009.
