Dr. Karen Rose Cercone of the Geoscience Department will discuss her creative use of IUP's new Moodle learning management software at the first ever Moodle Faculty Showcase, to be held November 10, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. in the Crimson Event Center. Dr. Cercone will discuss how she uses narrated PDF files, live streaming classroom sites, and other techniques in both distance education and on-campus sections of GEOS 101: The Dynamic Earth.
The Faculty Moodle Showcase is being presented by the IT Support Center to highlight creative usage of the open-source Moodle software. Dr. Cercone will demonstrate the pedagogy she has created over the past summer and fall to engage students who prefer web surfing and text messaging to traditional pen-and-paper groupwork.
