“Flight 93: Paradise Found” Video from September 11 Ceremony Available On Line

IUP marked the eighth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States during a memorial ceremony September 11, 2009, in front of the World Trade Center monument in the Oak Grove.

The event included remarks by Michael Hood, dean of the College of Fine Arts; Alyssa Stiles, president of the Student Government Association; and IUP President Tony Atwater, who delivered his poem “Flight 93: Paradise Found.”

Atwater wrote the poem in honor of the United Airlines Flight 93 passengers who mounted an assault against the hijackers to gain control of the plane, which later crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pa.

Video footage of the poem is available on IUP’s YouTube channel: “Flight 93: Paradise Found.”
