IUP String Project Accepting Applications for the Fall Semester

Loading...

The IUP String Project, a community outreach program that provides music instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass instruments in Indiana and the surrounding area, is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year.

The IUP String Project curriculum consists of weekly private lessons and ensemble classes scheduled at different times throughout the year. Lessons, group classes, and recitals take place on the IUP campus and are taught by IUP music students under the supervision and guidance of the IUP String Area faculty. For more specific information please see the IUP String Project webpage.

The IUP String Project is one of thirty-two similar programs joined under the auspices of the National String Project Consortium, dedicated to promoting string music education in the United States. The String Project is designed to support the string programs in public and private schools. Therefore, all students enrolled in the IUP String Project must also be enrolled in their school orchestra program, if one is available in the student's grade level.

Lessons begin the week of September 21 and applications are due Monday, September 14, 2009. For an application or more information, please contact Dr. Linda Jennings at ljenning@iup.edu or 724-357-2649.
