Common Freshman Reader Events for 2009–2010

The Common Freshman Reader Implementation Team continues to shape a roster of events designed to support the 2009–2010 academic year. Starting appropriately with Freshman Convocation and continuing through May 2010 with the annual Chalk On the Walk contest, Make the Impossible Possible will continue to provide a common academic experience for the various members of the IUP community.

All events are listed in the Events section of the Common Freshman Reader website. Highlights of the Fall schedule of events include author Bill Strickland’s attending Freshman Convocation and Mr. Strickland’s classroom visits and lecture on November 17. Other Fall events include the film An Independent Portrait on November 11. This documentary is by local filmmaker Jose Muniain and won the Audience Choice Award at the Three Rivers Film Festival.

The Common Freshman Reader website will continue to be updated as events are added and finalized. Members of the IUP community—students, faculty, and staff—are all encouraged to revisit the site frequently for additional information as well as to offer feedback and suggestions about the Common Freshman Reader.
