2009 Freshman Convocation to Welcome Class of 2013

2009 Freshman Convocation, set for 5:30 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium on Sunday, August 30, 2009, will formally welcome entering students to IUP.

The celebration is designed to be a communitywide welcome that includes 2009–2010 University Professor Gian Pagnucci as master of ceremonies, and remarks by Student Government President Alyssa Stiles. Featured Keynote Speaker will be Sam Heastie delivering his address “If It’s To Be, It’s Up To Me.”

Convocation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 on Sunday of Welcome Weekend, immediately following academic departmental meetings. Faculty are invited to attend convocation along with students. Marking the significance of convocation will be the attendance of special guest Bill Strickland, author of the Common Freshman Reader Make the Impossible Possible.

The celebration concludes in the Oak Grove with an Aramark-prepared cookout, music, the IUP Cheerleaders, and our Crimson Hawk Norm! (In the event of rain, students may proceed to campus dining areas: Foster and Folger Halls and the HUB Rock II.)
