Geoscience’s Lewis Selected to Lead Academic Career Preparation Workshop

Jon Lewis, of the Department of Geoscience, participated as one of eight leaders of the Preparing for an Academic Career in the Geosciences workshop.

This particular workshop is aimed at graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who are interested in pursuing academic careers. Discussions covered such topics as the academic job search, understanding how different students learn, effective methods for assessing learning, moving your research forward in a new setting, how to balance family and work, and many others.

It is one of the many workshops of the “On the Cutting Edge” professional development program that is supported by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) and funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
