Pavloski Named to International Society for Gestalt Theory

Ray Pavloski, professor and chair of the Psychology Department, was recently informed by Professor Hellmuth Metz-Göckel of the University of Dortmund, Germany, that he has been accepted as a regular member of the International Society for Gestalt Theory and its Applications.

Professor Metz-Göckel, board director of the society, wrote “...I welcome you heartily. We are very glad to greet you because of your special research interests. These will be able to stimulate internal discussions very much.”

In the past year, Dr. Pavloski has presented his research linking neural networks and perceptual phenomena at a special symposium on Gestalt theory at the international conference Describing Complex Systems, held in Zadar, Croatia, and at an international conference entitled Neuroscience Meets Gestalt Psychology, held at the University of Osnabrück, Germany. Dr. Pavloski also has a theoretical paper in press in the society’s journal, Gestalt Theory: “Searching for a Neural Isomorph of the Perceptual Gestalt: From Cortical Currents to Hidden Patterns in the Dynamics of Recurrent Neural Networks.”
