President Offers Condolences on IUP Student Death

I am saddened to inform you of the passing of an IUP student.

Amelia Vaught, a freshman Finance major from Finleyville, Pa., died May 31, 2009, following a traffic accident earlier that day near her home. Amelia was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority.

Obviously the death of any member of the IUP community is tragic and difficult to bear for members of the IUP community.  I am sure you join me in expressing concern and sympathy for Amelia's friends and family.

The IUP Counseling Center provides walk-in crisis counseling to students on a daily basis. Students also may call the Counseling Center at 724-357-2621 to make an appointment or to speak to a counselor. A twenty-four-hour crisis hotline is available at The Open Door, 724-465-2605.

Sincerely,

Tony Atwater, Ph.D.
