In Memory of Imogene L. Moyer, Ph.D.

It is with great sadness that the Department of Criminology reports the death of Dr. Imogene L. Moyer. Dr. Moyer passed away April 22, 2009, after a long illness.

Dr. Moyer was a member of the faculty in IUP’s Criminology Department from 1984 through 1998. She was instrumental in the growth and development of the department and its programs, and she is remembered particularly for her mentoring of graduate students and new faculty members.

Dr. Moyer was the author of Criminological Theories: Traditional and Non-Traditional Voices and Themes and The Changing Roles of Women in the Criminal Justice System: Offenders, Victims, and Professionals, as well as numerous journal articles and book chapters. She was the recipient of the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Criminology’s Division on Women and Crime and was Professor Emerita in the Criminology Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
