Ashley Hague (’09) and Tina Ritter (’09) shared the first-place award for Sigma Xi Best Science Poster at the IUP Undergraduate Scholars Forum. Both Ashley and Tina have been working with Dr. Steve Hovan on paleoclimte projects from cores taken in the Equatorial Paciic.

Ashley's project was titled “ODP Eastern Equatorial Pacific Leg 138: Eolian Dust Providing Insight Into Paleowinds and Paleolocation of the ITCZ.” Tina's project was titled “ODP Eastern Equatorial Pacific Leg 138: Eolian Dust Provides Insight Into Past and Future Climatic Conditions.” Both Ashley and Tina have been working with windborn dust particles (eolian dust) from the Equatorial Pacific seafloor to understand past climates and atmospheric circulation patterns through Earth’s history.
