In addition to teaching two sections of “Anthropology of Women” this Spring in the Anthropology Department, Dr. Lila Shaara is also a novelist. Her second book, The Fortune Teller’s Daughter, was released in January by Ballantine Books.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer called the novel “beautifully written” and “one of the best mysteries of the year.” Dr. Shaara’s first book, Every Secret Thing, was also published by Ballantine and was called “the debut of an utterly original voice.” Shaara is currently working on a third, tentatively titled Conviction.
