Two Indiana University of Pennsylvania professional music fraternities, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota, raised $355 for the Alice Paul House, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. The groups raised the funds by staging a swing dance demonstration in November.

Men of Swing, led by student Mark Yochum, a senior music major from Pittsburgh, provided music for the event.

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a male professional music fraternity established at IUP in 1953. The IUP Zeta Tau chapter has 40 active members.

Sigma Alpha Iota is a female professional music fraternity that offers support to the music community at IUP. It was chartered at IUP in 1999. IUP’s Kappa Beta chapter has 40 active members.

Both groups participate in a variety of community service activities.
