It serves business owners, their families and key employees through educational programs provided by the IUP Management Services Group, sponsors, advisers and guest speakers.

The center also recognizes family businesses that have made a contribution to their community at the Annual Family Business Awards program. The celebration includes an awards reception and presentation, followed by a traditional tree-planting ceremony in honor of the selected family in the Allegheny Arboretum at IUP. Awards for excellence are based on criteria for regional and local businesses developed by an steering committee.

Center membership is open to business owners, their adult children and extended family members employed by the business. Key nonfamily managers and professional advisers to the family business are also welcome to attend all activities.  Membership is free.
