Twelve students from the business education program in the IUP Department of Technology Support and Training visited Reston, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., on October 23–26, 2008. These future business teachers experienced teaching at a large suburban school in Alexandria School District—Chantilly High School. The IUP students observed teaching at its best in the areas of Web Design, Accounting, Personal Finance, Multimedia, and Business Law.

The next part of the trip was to visit the headquarters of two professional associations—Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA-PBL) and the National Business Education Association (NBEA). Both FBLA-PBL and NBEA executives spoke with the students about continual involvement in the professional world and becoming a leader in the field. The group also had the opportunity to tour Washington, D.C., and spent time visiting the Holocaust Museum and the beautiful memorials throughout our nation’s capitol.
