Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s professional music fraternities, Phi Mu Alpha and Sigma Alpha Iota, will present a swing-dance demonstration and dance Nov. 7 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the Alice Paul House, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence.

It will be held in Room 121 of IUP’s Cogswell Hall, at the corner of Eleventh Street and Oakland Avenue. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in the IUP parking garage, adjacent to the building.

Cost is $4 per person or $6 per couple. Tickets will be sold at the door. Dress for the event is semi-formal.

Men of Swing will provide music for the event. Men of Swing was created in 2005 by IUP student Chris Conte and is now led by student Mark Yochum.

Phi Mu Alpha is a male professional music fraternity established at IUP in 1953. The IUP Zeta Tau chapter has 40 active members.

Sigma Alpha Iota is a female professional music fraternity that offers support to the music community. It was established at IUP in 1999. IUP’s Kappa Beta chapter has 40 active members.

Both groups participate in community service activities.
