What is next for admitted, first-year IUP students planning on entering in January 2009?
You may have visited the campus, met Indiana University of Pennsylvania staff members at an admissions visitation program or academic expo, received mail, and checked out our website for information about our university. If you have applied and been accepted, you may be asking — What do I need to do? What’s next? How do I know what classes to take? When do I register for classes?
At Indiana University of Pennsylvania, we are committed to student success. We know that the most successful students are somewhat familiar with the campus before they arrive, understand the expectations of being a college student, have met some fellow students, and know how to get involved. As well, proper advising and appropriate course selection are critical to first-year success. Our January orientation programs for Indiana, Northpointe, and Punxsutawney campus freshmen were established to help you begin your path to success.
Attendance at orientation is mandatory for new, first-year students as it provides opportunities to gain an early understanding of the campus and the host of resources and personnel available to support student success.
By participating in the orientation program, you will begin the semester with a better understanding of your academic program and degree requirements, your identification card, an understanding of technology resources, a feel for the university community and its values, a class schedule pertinent to entering first-year students in your major, and a reaffirmation that IUP is the place where you will meet and go beyond your own expectations!
We are looking forward to meeting you and working with you. We are currently planning for our January programs. Our mailings about January orientation will begin about mid-November.
For your planning, our dates for STUDENT ONLY January orientation are:
- Northpointe Campus – Tuesday, January 6, 2009 (on the Northpointe Campus)
- Indiana Campus – Saturday/Sunday, January 10–11, 2009 (your mailings will indicate early move-in times)
- Punxsutawney Campus – Sunday, January 11, 2009 (on the Punxsutawney Campus)
