Simon Shaheen is one of the most significant Arab musicians, performers, and composers of his generation. He dazzles his listeners as he deftly leaps from traditional Arabic sounds to jazz and Western classical styles as he works to incorporates a legacy of Arabic music while forging ahead to new musical frontiers. A Palestinian, born in the village of Tarshiha in the Galilee, Shaheen’s childhood was steeped in music. After graduating from the Academy of Music in Jerusalem in 1978, he later moved to New York City to study at the Manhattan School of Music and Columbia University. His busy tour schedule keeps him traveling across the globe along with his three other musicians that will join him for the Indiana concert.
