Foreign Film and Music Series: The Forsaken Land (Sri Lanka)

The Forsaken Land movie posterNeither war nor peace, just the wind blowing. God is absent, but still the sun rises over a lonely home between two trees in a forsaken land. A hand emerges from the water, begging for help. A legendary woman searches for love. A soldier kills a stranger, and is burdened by guilt. The Forsaken Land is certainly one of the most important films to come out of south Asia in recent years. It pushes the envelope completely unmindful of how the market back home will respond to the challenges that its substance and style pose.

Film shows at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Indiana Theater, 637 Philadelphia Street. Live music by Pianist Jeremy Doran at 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
