Wednesday Workshops Focus on Professional Writing and Presentations

WorkshopThe Writing Center’s free Wednesday Workshop series for the fall 2014 semester will help students write professional documents or revise their work with help from a tutor.

Wednesday Workshops begin at 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday in the Writing Center, located in 218 Eicher Hall. Workshops last about an hour, and attendance vouchers will be provided at the end of every workshop.

No appointments are needed—students can just walk in!

Writing Professional Memos and Email

Do you have to write a professional memo for a class assignment? Looking to polish your professional writing skills? This workshop will review the basics of writing memos and email and give attendees the chance to start or revise a memo with help from a tutor.

Do-It-Yourself Resumes

If you have to create a resume for a class assignment, a Writing Center tutor can help you choose among different resume styles and formats for the look and feel that suits you.

Do-It-Yourself APA and MLA Documentation

MLA and APA documentation are commonly used in the humanities and social sciences. This workshop will review the basics of both styles and how to create a Works Cited or References page at the end of a paper. Attendees will have the chance to work with in-text citations and their reference page with the help of a tutor.

Giving Dynamic Presentations

At some point in their college careers, many students will find themselves in front of their peers giving a class or conference presentation. This workshop will cover ways to develop notes to accompany slide images for effective public presentations.
