Wireless Certificate Update

On July 23, 2014, IUP will transition to a new wireless security certificate. The previous certificate is set to expire and must be renewed. The transition to the new certificate will impact some wireless devices on the network.

You will need to do the following on your device when you bring it to campus after July 23, 2014.

  • If you have an iOS device, please go into your Wi-Fi settings and tap the “IUP” wireless connection. You will be prompted to accept the new certificate. (AddTrust External CA Root) 
  • For Windows 7 laptops, you will again be prompted to “connect” or “terminate” your connection. Please select “connect” to ensure the new certificate gets accepted properly. 
  • Other devices such as Android and Windows 8 may require you to reconnect and accept the new certificate. You will need to follow the prompts that appear.

If you are experiencing issues connecting, you will need to remove previously installed wireless profiles. Removal of the wireless profiles can be done as follows.  

Windows

  1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
  2. Open Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Click Manage Wireless Networks.
  4. Remove all wireless network listed in this list.
  5. Restart computer and reconnect to your wireless network.

Mac

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Profiles.

If you haven’t installed any configuration profiles, the Profiles pane of System Preferences isn’t available.

Select a profile in the Profiles list, and then click Delete (-).

When you remove a configuration profile, all of the settings and information supplied by the profile are deleted. For example, if the profile set up your e-mail account, removing the profile deletes the account information from your computer.

Configuration profiles can be designed so that users can’t remove them. If you can’t remove a configuration profile, ask for help from your system administrator or other source of the configuration profile.
