Biology Students Win Multiple Awards During IUP Research Week 2014

Undergraduate and graduate students from the IUP Department of Biology made numerous presentations during IUP’s 2014 Research Week, and many were named as winners in their respective venues.

2014 College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Ninth Annual Women in Mathematics, Science, and Technology Program

Mary Chey and Kelsey Hayden (Biology; N. Bharathan, research supervisor), “Real-Time PCR of cDNA of Tomato Mosaic Virus (ToMV) RNA” (second place award)

Rebecca Kruise (Biology; Tom Simmons, research supervisor), “Seasonal Activity and Abundance of the Blacklegged Tick (Ixodes scapularis) and Infection Prevalence of the Lyme Disease Bacterium (Borrelia burgdorferi) in Mid-Western Pennsylvania” (third place award)
