IUP is pleased to be hosting the 2014 Undergraduate Anthropology Conference, designed to highlight outstanding undergraduate research in all four fields of anthropology. Over 25 undergraduate papers and posters will be presented during this two-day conference geared towards intellectual exchange and anthropological investigation. The conference will take place in the Crimson Event Center from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, and in Johnson Hall, room 247, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13.

The Undergraduate Anthropology Conference is specifically designed for undergraduate students in the PASSHE system to present and discuss their work and to exchange and encourage new ways of engaging anthropology across disciplines and institutions.

Our keynote speaker is Olivia Navarro-Farr from the College of Wooster. Navarro-Farr will present a public lecture on her recent discovery of the tomb of a Maya warrior queen in Guatemala. “Fire Ceremony, Sacred Memory, and Ritual Revitalization: Remembering Kaloomte’ K’abel at the Classic Maya City of El Perú-Waka’” will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, in the Crimson Event Center.
