Spring Break 2008 Closing Notice

All university residential facilities will be closed and locked with I-Card access systems deactivated from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, until noon on Sunday, March 16. Students are not permitted in the residence halls during the break period. Note: Esch Hall, Campus Towers, and University Towers will be available only to students who have applied for and who meet specific criteria for break housing. Residence Hall Closing

All resident students must vacate their room by no later than 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. All residence halls will be closed, and I-Card systems deactivated during the break. Students are asked to leave for break as early as possible following their last class.

The following procedures must be completed by all residents before leaving. Rooms will be checked by the residence hall staff to ensure that these steps have been completed. The university assumes no responsibility for any consequences of failure to carry out these procedures:

  1. Remove all perishable food.
  2. Completely empty all trash cans.
  3. Leave heat valves open.
  4. Close drapes/pull window shades halfway.
  5. Close and securely latch windows, turn lights out, and lock door.
  6. Shut off all electrical appliances/items (except refrigerators), and ensure that no outlets are overloaded.
  7. Note: As an added precaution, electrical appliances/items should be disconnected from the wall outlets during the break.

Food Service

Food service is not available during the break. The dining hall schedule is as follows:

Foster

  • Last meal served before break: Noon, Saturday, March 8
  • First meal served after break: Noon, Sunday, March 16

Folger

  • Last meal served: 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 7
  • First meal served: 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 16

HUB Rock Café

  • Last meal served: 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 7
  • First meal served: 7:00 a.m., Monday, March 17

Oak Room

  • Last meal served: 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 7
  • First meal served: 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 17

Java City, Library

  • Last meal served: 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 7
  • First meal served: 8:00 a.m., Monday, March 17

Java City, Bookstore

  • Last meal served: 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 7
  • First meal served: 7:00 a.m., Monday, March 17

JC Munch Box, Foster

  • Last meal served: 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 7
  • First meal served: 7:00 a.m., Monday, March 17

Eberly Café

  • Last meal served: 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6
  • First meal served: 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 17

Shafer C-Store

  • Last meal served: 12:00 a.m., Thursday, March 6
  • First meal served: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16

Other Important Information

  • The university cannot be responsible for theft or damage to any items left in student rooms during the break period. Students are urged to make special provisions for the security of valuable items. As a reminder, it is advisable for all residents to have personal property insurance.

  • Residents are advised that any necessary maintenance and/or custodial services will continue to be performed during the break period.

  • All residential buildings will reopen at noon on Sunday, March 16. I-Card access systems will be reactivated at that time.

  • The deadline to apply for break housing is Monday, March 3, 2008. For information regarding break housing, please contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 724-357-2696.
