Register Now for Environmental Health Workshop, April 4

“IUP Environmental Health Workshop: Environmental Issues in Southwestern PA” will provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of information on the most common environmental health issues in and around the Indiana County area.

The conference will cover a wide variety of major environment-related health concerns. Topics include: the health risks in homes and commercial facilities of radon and how to minimize them; occupational sources of air pollution and its effects on health (pesticides, asbestos, lead, etc./asthma); the use of genes to personalize medicines (cancer and  autoimmune drugs); occupational and environmental health concerns from particulate exposures during gas well drilling and hydraulic fracturing; an overview of environmental health in extraction and use of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas); and environmental awareness/community preparedness activities.
