Machado Describes Reducing Isolation, Disengagement, and Disenchantment Among K-12 Teachers

Crystal Machado, Professional Studies in Education, presented a paper at the annual conference of National Council of Professors of Educational Administration (NCPEA), Meadowland, NJ. Her presentation was titled “Getting Everyone on the Same (Web) Page: The Role that Innovative Web-Based Technology can Play in Transforming K-12 Schools into Learning Organization.”

The presentation described how the isolation, disengagement, and disenchantment which teachers face in some K-12 schools may be reduced by innovative leaders who use Web 2.0 technologies to get everyone in the school building on the same (web) page.

Machado illustrated how Twitter, Facebook, VoiceThread, Skype, Google Docs, blogs, and wikis can be used to open the lines of communication, expand teachers’ instructional and leadership capacities, and support teacher-initiated networks.
