Dories Publishes on the Natural History Writing of John Clare

Jeff Dories (English) had his article “John Clare: Natural History Writing and a Loco-Descriptive Poetics of Landscape” published in the Fall 2013 edition of Exegesis Literary Journal.

This article explores the natural history writing/poetry of author John Clare (1793–1864) in order to understand the dislocation and alienation that people feel with the loss of nature and the land of their birth. Clare’s work deserves special attention because of his obsessive documentation of his local area—Helpston, England—and the subsequent destruction/enclosure of this land.

Exegesis Literary Journal is published by Royal Holloway, University of London.
