GENERAL SUMMARY The Groundskeeper is responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to; maintenance of grounds, basic cleaning and custodial care of buildings, and care of areas within the plant facility to provide a safe and esthetic plant environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Responsible for the lawn care, weed control, and basic landscaping which may include the planting of flowers and shrubbery. Safely uses motorized equipment, e.g., mowers, blowers, trimmers, hedgers, etc. in the performance of lawn maintenance tasks. Uses appropriate hearing protection when operating motorized equipment. Applies chemicals for weed control safely in accordance with the directions provided by the manufacturer. Responsible for ensuring that ground maintenance equipment is kept in safe and operable conditions. Operates a high-reach fork lift to store and retrieve plant equipment, supplies and parts.

Performs snow removal and salting of plant roads and sidewalks during inclement weather, to ensure slip hazards are eliminated. Performs general custodial care of the plant facility to include cleaning the shop, kitchen, storage room, and hallways. This generally will involve the sweeping and mopping of floors, the dumping of garbage, and the cleaning of windows. Will replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes at the plant as needed. Will drive to various vendors to pick up and deliver supplies, parts and equipment. Will paint hydrants, walls, and buildings as needed. Under supervision, will be responsible for cleaning the plant's fleet of vehicles and doing routine maintenance such as oil and air filter replacement, hose and battery inspection, tire pressure checks, etc. Will be responsible for the washing, waxing, and debris removal of the plant's fleet.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent GED. Some experience maintaining grounds and/or facilities desired. Must be 18 years of age and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain a fork-lift operators certification as directed by the Plant Manager. Ability to lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, e.g., equipment, tools, and materials.

 Wage is $9.50-$10 per hour.
