Smith-Sherwood Presents on the Works of Clara Janés at MLA Conference

Dawn Smith-Sherwood, Department of Foreign Languages (Spanish), formed part of the special session “Artistic Affinities and Feminist Thought in the Works of Clara Janés” at the 129th annual convention of the Modern Language Association, celebrated January 9–12, 2014, in Chicago.

The roundtable discussion, comprised of interventions by seven Janés scholars, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the publication of Janés first poetry collection, Las estrellas vencidas, in 1964. Janés most recent work, Orbes del sueño, was awarded best poetry collection of 2013 by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
