Brooks Presents on Employing “Instructional Conversation” in Foreign Language Classes

Pete Brooks, along with a colleague, presented “Transforming Classroom Discourse with Instructional Conversation” at the annual convention of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in November 2013.

This presentation, directed at teachers of all languages, described and demonstrated what “instructional conversation” is (and is not) to assist teachers in monitoring their classroom discourse to help them move away from the more traditional and ubiquitous “recitation script” of Initiation-Response-Evaluation sequences.
