58 Percent to Goal: Senior Class Gift Drive Needs Your Help!

Senior Class Gift Officers, 2013Seniors looking forward to graduation in December or May have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy through the Senior Class Gift. This year’s committee has chosen to fund technology and furniture in the first floor lobby of the new Humanities and Social Sciences building, which is now under construction.

You can make your gift now by following this link.

So far, the drive has reached 58 percent of its goal of obtaining 20.13 percent participation of the graduating class. Gifts of any size count, although you seniors might wish to give suggested amounts of $20.13 or $20.14. Seniors who participate may wear the Philanthropy Cord, an adornment to complement the cap and gown. Senior Class Gift Vice President Josh Acosta will present the gift to the university during commencement and will recognize graduates who wear the cord.

Senior Class Gift an IUP Tradition

The first Senior Class Gift at IUP was recorded in 1873, a stained-glass window that was destroyed when a portion of Leonard Hall burned in the 1950s. Other recognizable gifts include the entrance pillars along Oakland Avenue, clock donated by the Class of 1917 that is still in use in Stapleton Library, and last year’s gift, a contribution to the Sutton Scholarship.

If you are a senior who wants to leave a lasting impression on your campus, please give today. If you need more information, contact the Development Office’s Annual Giving operation at 724-357-5555 or send an e-mail to iup-giving@iup.edu.
