Neusius and Chiarulli Discuss Ongoing Investigations at the Johnston Site

Sarah Neusius and Beverly Chiarulli recently presented a paper entitled “Investigating and Interpreting the Johnston Site, a Late Prehistoric Village in Western Pennsylvania” at the 80th annual meeting of the Eastern States Archaeological Federation held in South Portland, Maine, October 31–November 3, 2013.

This paper summarized their ongoing investigations at the Johnston site (36IN2) located near Blairsville, and their plans for future geophysical and other work at the site. This research is part of the IUP Late Prehistoric Project, which seeks a better understanding of the many recorded villages in Indiana and surrounding counties dating between AD 1000 and 1600.
