Professional Day for Teacher Candidates

The Professional Day meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, at 8:00 a.m. in the Ohio Room of the HUB.

At this meeting, we will discuss applying for your certification through the TIMS System in the state of Pennsylvania. We will also talk about preparing materials for interviews, learning about job opportunities, and considering employment in other states.

This meeting will assist you in the process of certification, and explain how the College of Education and Educational Technology works with the other colleges on campus to verify graduations. The TIMS system now allows you to enter your certification applications. We will discuss this in great detail at our meeting. You will need to go to the Marketplace link on the IUP website and pay the $60 IUP certification processing fee. Please remember to print the receipt from the Marketplace, as you will need to supply this information and a copy of your TIMS coversheet to the Teacher Education Office as verification during the certification process.

The Registrar's Office will also attend the meeting on the 20th and assist you in receiving your honors medallions, as well as verifying your names on diplomas and confirming any minors or concentrations you have achieved.

At the end of the meeting, you will receive an Act 36 letter, which is the verification from IUP that you are completing a program in education. This letter can be used as a placeholder in applications, and can also demonstrate to school districts that you are indeed nearing certification.
