Please Step Away from the Research Paper, and Engage in Some Active Learning!

Join us from 3:35–4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in the Crimson Event Center, Folger Hall, for a Reflective Practice Large Group Meeting on the topic!

  • Have you been searching for more exciting assignments and ways to assess your students’ learning?
  • Have you tried using authentic assignments?
  • Have you tried using posters as a means for students to demonstrate what they’ve learned?

Several of your IUP colleagues have agreed to serve on a panel to discuss how they’ve experimented with these tactics. They will also field questions from those of you who are curious and would like to give it a try.  Who will be there, you ask?

  • Brian Jones, of Theater and Dance
  • Hilario Molina, of Sociology
  • Edel Reilly, of Mathematics
  • Mac Fiddner, of Political Science, is not available to join us, but he asks his students to demonstrate their understanding of American foreign policy using posters. He agreed to have examples of their work on display at our event!

And, as always, if you have already been using some of these tactics, please feel free to bring examples of your assignments and student products to share! We hope to see you there.

This event is for faculty and teaching assistants only.

No need to RSVP.

Refreshments provided!
