Anthropology Club's Day of the Dead Events

In honor of Day of the Dead, the Anthropology Club is presenting a talk by Professor Harold Morales of Religious Studies entitled "The Day of the Dead: an Affirmation of Life." The talk is Monday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. in Johnson 247.

Professor Morales' talk will focus on the following:

Rather than a morbid obsession with dying, the Day of the Dead is an affirmation of life for those who prepare and visit alters beautifully adorned with colorful flowers, fanciful paper cutouts, decorated breads, candles, toy and candy skulls and skeletons and photographs of deceased loved ones. This talk will describe the history, practice and significance of the Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico and beyond.

Light refreshments will be served.
