Continuing into its 2013–2014 Ovations!
season, the Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will host an
encore performance by a septet that combines music with a heavy dose of absurdest theater, Mnozil Brass.
This one-night performance will take place on Friday, October 18, 2013,
at 8:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium of IUP’s Performing Arts Center.
Since first performing once a month
at a very small tavern across the road from the renowned Vienna College of
Music which they attended, Mnozil Brass has managed to develop a unique style. They blend this style of humor and
comedic antics with musical elements of Austrian and German folk music as well
as rearrangements of classical, jazz, and pop pieces.
Just over 20 years after those
performances in that Vienna pub, Mnozil has traveled worldwide, performing at
such venues as the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and London’s Royal Albert
Hall. This year’s theme, “Happy
Birthday,” is their jubilant celebration of that success.
They first appeared in Indiana two
seasons ago to wild, thunderous success. Their return marks their first stop in
this year’s U.S. tour that includes Michigan, California, North Carolina, and
