How Strong is Your Password?

Your passwords protect your data and personal information from unauthorized access. Your level of protection is as only as good as the strength of your password.

Passwords consisting of a word and some numbers can be cracked in a matter of hours. To ensure strong passwords:

  • Use six or more characters.
  • Include upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters (@, $, %, or !).
  • Think in terms of alternative spellings of words and using whole phrases (e.g., “Pl@net” for “Planet” and “!luvkats” for “I love cats.”

The video offers some more recommendations on creating strong passwords.
