Cultural Enrichment Trip to African Art Museum and MLK Memorial in D.C., Sept 28

Tickets are now available for a bus trip to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, September 28, 2013. This day-long trip to the city will stop at the National Museum of African Art, the MLK Memorial, and the soul food restaurant Eatonville (named after anthropologist and writer Zora Neale Hurston’s hometown).

The National Museum of African Art is currently running a remarkable exhibit called “Earth Matters: Land as Material and Metaphor in the Arts of Africa.” You can find more information about the exhibit at the Smithsonian website.

The trip is open to 40 students and is run on a first-come, first-served basis. The bus departs at 6:00 a.m. on September 28 and returns at 11:30 p.m the same day. Tickets can be purchased for $45 ($60 without an I-Card) at the African American Cultural Center in Delaney Hall, Suite B25. The ticket cost includes lunch at Eatonville.

This trip is sponsored by the AACC in association with Amanda Poole of the Department of Anthropology, the Black Student League, and the Pan-African Studies Program.
