Two Students Selected for FIUP Volunteer Service Awards

The 2013 recipients of the Foundation for Indiana University of Pennsylvania Community Volunteer Service Award are Caitlyn Hazenstab, of Sickle’s Corner Back Road, Altoona, and Caroline Levi, of Krauser Road, Downington. The award recognizes both student volunteerism at IUP and the volunteer commitment of the Foundation for IUP board of directors.

Levi, daughter of Louise Levi and Leonard Levi, is a 2011 graduate of Great Valley High School. She is an Early Childhood Education–Special Education major (urban track).

She is a dean’s list student and was selected for Kappa Delta Pi honors education fraternity and Phi Eta Sigma honor society. She is a volunteer leader for Young Life, a student leader for Liberti student Christian group, volunteered to help freshmen with move-in in 2012 and 2013, is a tutor with the American Language Institute, and is also a member of Amplify, a student Christian group.

Hazenstab, daughter of Pamela Hazenstab and John Hazenstab III, is a 2010 graduate of Altoona High School and is a Criminology major. She is a dean’s list student and is a volunteer member of the Indiana Fire Association. She is also a member of the criminology association.

The Community Volunteer Service Award was established in June 1998 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Foundation for IUP. To be eligible for the award, students must be engaged in volunteer community service that exceeds any requirement for a class project, organizational membership, scholarship, or other obligatory circumstance.
