IUP Students Contribute to Mandela Wall

IUP students contributed “get well” messages to the memorial which has been erected in support of Nelson Mandela

During the 2013 IUP-Africa summer expedition, IUP study abroad students contributed “get well” messages to the memorial erected in support of Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid and former political leader of South Africa. The “get well” wall is outside the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.

Mandela has been hospitalized in critical condition recently, and many have made their support of the Nobel Peace prize winner visible, in the form of cards that cover the wall outside of the hospital.

The IUP group, led by Carl Luciano (Biology) and Adrian Wisnicki (English) offered their own get well card, along with an IUP postcard and a Pittsburgh Steelers “Terrible Towel,” to represent best wishes not just the group present, but from all of IUP and Western Pennsylvania.
