Where

Studio Theater (B-15), Waller Hall, IUP Performing Arts Center

When

Open Audition

Monday, August 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m.*

Callbacks

Tuesday, August 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

*Note: Auditions are by appointment only. Sign up in advance for appointments on the callboard in the lower level of Waller Hall outside the green room.

How

A stage manager outside the doors of the studio theater will ask you to fill out an audition sheet, and will take your resume if you have one.  You will be escorted into the audition stage.  Auditions will entail a 60- to 90-second monologue (no more—you will be stopped) of your choice.  There will also be audition tasks such as singing, movement, or puppet animation that you may be asked to complete if you have specific interest in one or more plays by title.

Specific information about each production is also posted on the TBTG Callboard in the lower level of Waller Hall.  You are encouraged to read it to help you prepare your audition.

When looking for material for your audition, look at specific information about each play.  Also consider this:  All three plays contain BIG, sophisticated language, and strong physical gesture/movement.  So, prepare a 60- to 90-second monologue that is about trying to make a change in another person who is VERY important to you. Look for a modern or contemporary piece that has some elevated language. (We want to see how you handle BIG words.) And make strong physical choices.

If you would like to be involved backstage in Theater-by-the-Grove productions, contact professor Patrick McCreary, the TBTG director of Production, at gpatrick@iup.edu.
