The IUP African American Cultural Center (AACC) is supporting the annual Juneteenth Day and the Indiana County NAACP Celebration of Juneteenth on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Mack Park Pavilion in Indiana, Pa.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Medgar Wylie Evers, this year’s theme is “Remembering Medgar Wylie Evers.” You are invited to attend this free event that will be a cookout featuring music, song, dance, games, food, fun, and door prizes. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and drinks will be provided. You are asked to bring a covered dish to share and come out to have a relaxing, fun, and inspiring evening. The pool will be available at a reduced rate for Junteenth participants.
For more information, please feel free to contact the AACC at 724-357-2455 or Patti Holmes at email@example.com.
Remember, this cookout is free, and all are welcome! It’s another community event! We hope to see you there.
Juneteenth is also known as Freedom Day and Emancipation Day. Juneteenth is a holiday or observance in many US states to celebrate the anniversary of the abolition of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865.
