Beta Gamma Sigma inducteesThe International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma inducted 29 business students at its induction ceremony April 21, 2013, in Eberly Auditorium.

Students were awarded a certificate and a Beta Gamma Sigma lapel pin. A reception followed in the Terry Serafini Atrium with family and friends.

Dr. Pankaj, Management Information Systems and Decision Sciences chairman, was a faculty honoree.

“As a member of Phi Kappa Phi, another honor society, I wanted to take on the responsibilities of being an advisor for Beta Gamma Sigma,” Pankaj said.

The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the society, and to serve its lifelong members.

“Being inducted into a society like Beta Gamma Sigma shows me that my persistence and dedication to my academics is worthwhile,” junior Management student Jamie Czech said. “The recognition reminds me why I am here and gives me the bit of inspiration I need to finish my academic career the way I started it.”

Juniors, seniors, and master’s in Business Administration students who had at least a 3.75 grade point average were eligible to join. Juniors had to be in their second semester and be in the top 10 percent of their class. Seniors also had to be in the top 10 percent, and MBA students had to be halfway through the program and be in in the top 20 percent to qualify.
