Smith-Sherwood Discusses Speaking Proficiency and Traditional Second-Language Literature

Dawn Smith-Sherwood, associate professor of Spanish, presented “Speaking Proficiency and the Traditional Second-Language Literature/Culture Classroom: A Case for Opening Dialogue” at the 66th annual Kentucky Foreign Language Conference, held at the University of Kentucky in Lexington April 18–20, 2013.

Her presentation provided an overview of the key research findings to date and presented the case for why second-language literature and culture specialists should listen carefully to themselves as they teach and seek ways to open dialogue, not only within their own classrooms, but also with their second language acquisition colleagues.
