Lowery Presents Multiple Sessions at NASPA 2013 Conference

John Wesley Lowery, associate professor in Student Affairs in Higher Education, presented multiple sessions at the recent 2013 NASPA Annual Conference in Orlando (March 16-20).

Lowery was the coordinating presenter for two presentations. He presented on enhancing graduate student engagement through the use of Twitter with Jörg Vianden and Tamara Yakaboski. He presented with Don Gehring on their national research study of college students’ views regarding effective alcohol sanctions. He also presented, with Alison Kiss, Gabriel Gates, and Kiersten Feeney White, on the role of student affairs professionals in institutionalizing campus safety.

During the NASPA conference, Lowery assumed the role of chair of the NASPA Faculty Fellows and participated in panel discussions hosted by the Faculty Fellows. These panel discussions focused on teaching through supervised practice in graduate preparation programs and offering advice for student affairs professionals who are also interested in teaching as an adjunct faculty member.

NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education is one of the leading professional associations for student affairs in higher education. More than 5,100 student affairs practitioners, graduate preparation program faculty, and graduate students attended the national conference this year.
