Explore the Paranormal Realm on Saturday, April 6

Community University Studies is offering “Ghost Hunting: A Short Introduction for Beginners” and “Ghost Hunting: Field Experience” on Saturday, April 6, 2013, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Keith Hall. This is your opportunity to explore the paranormal on the IUP campus. Register now for both courses.

“Ghost Hunting: A Short Introduction for Beginners” will provide those who are new to ghost investigation with protocols, advice, and instruction on using equipment. In addition, some of the theory and speculation behind ghost-lore and behavior will be discussed. A participant who completes this introductory workshop will be prepared to begin investigating on his/her own, or may choose to gain experience through the “Field Experience” being offered at IUP the same evening immediately following the workshop. Members of the Paranormal Society of IUP will assist in instruction. This class meets from 3:00–6:00 p.m. in Keith Hall, room 165.

Following the introduction course, participants can choose to register for “Ghost Hunting: Field Experience.” Participants will move in small groups through several on-campus sites, using cameras, tape recorders, meters, and other equipment to attempt to document possible paranormal activity. Experienced investigators from the Paranormal Society of IUP will assist with use of equipment and interpretation of results.

Materials needed for the field experience are a flashlight, digital camera, and tape recorder, if at all possible. Walking, both inside and outside, is a part of the field experience. The field experience is from 6:30–11:00 p.m. Participants should meet in Keith Hall, room 165.

The instructor is Laurel Black, who has taught at the college level for about 20 years and is an experienced ghost investigator. Black has taught “Ghost Hunting Basics for Curious Beginners” for several years through IUP.
