New Director for IUP Office of Adult and Continuing Education

Kristen O'HaraIndiana University of Pennsylvania’s Office of Adult and Continuing Education has returned to Keith Hall with a new director.

Kristen O’Hara, of Lower Burrell, started in the position on January 2, 2013. O’Hara came to this role from the IUP at Northpointe regional campus, where she was the interim assistant director.

The IUP Office of Adult and Continuing Education continues to offers many programs, including the Great Decisions Foreign Policy Lecture Series; the Community University Studies, which offers noncredit special interest courses on a variety of topics for community members; and the dual enrollment program for high school students, offering current high school seniors the opportunity to take selected for-credit courses at IUP during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

The office also oversees Winter and Summer session applications for all non-IUP students, including post-baccalaureate students, community members interested in enrichment courses for personal or business, senior citizens interested in auditing a course, and visiting high school students.

Suggestions for teachers or for topics in the Community University Studies program are welcome. The program is offered in the Fall and Spring at the Indiana and regional campuses, according to demand. Current Spring courses include art, language instruction, music instruction, and ghost hunting.

For more information, or to contact O’Hara with Community University Studies ideas, persons can email ce-info@iup.edu or call (724) 357-2292.
